April O’Peel
Since graduating from Screaming Chicken Theatrical Society’s Becoming Burlesque program, this comic cutie has titillated audiences in dozens of venues across Vancouver and Canada. Proud accomplishments include dancing and co-choreographing for SHINE: a burlesque musical. Her efforts with SHINE were noted when she was nominated for an Ovation award in the category of Best Gypsy for her stellar performance and cheery disposition. Other achievements of note include masterminding and performing in Screaming Chicken’s entry for Best Group at the Burlesque Hall of Fame Weekend in the summer of 2010. April was also choreographer for the critically acclaimed Burlesque musical Greece Does Grease. Listed as having one of the Top 40 Best Burlesque Blogs, recipient of the 2009 Vancouver International Burlesque Festival’s award for Comedic and Satirical Brilliance, and voted as Vancouver’s 3rd favorite comedian in the 2009 Georgia Straight’s Best of, everyone’s favourite blonde ball of fun has since returned to scene of the crime to help guide new performers into the magical world of Burlesque by co-teaching the very same intensive where she first found her start.
Melody Mangler
Melody Mangler has been called one of Canadas best Burlesque performers (CTV News), a cross between Lili St. Cyr and Lucille Ball (Kellita of the Hot Pink Feathers), and the hottest girl in Vancouver (Dont Front Magazine). Melody is a founding member and current artistic director of Screaming Chicken Theatrical Society, an award winning not-for-profit theatre company as well as co founder of the Vancouver International Burlesque Festival. Listed two years in a row as one of the worlds Top Burlesque Performers (21st Century Pinups), winner of Best Debut in 2009 at the Burlesque Hall of Fame in 2009, and Best Local Dancer in the Georgia Straight 2009 Best of, this tattooed fireball incorporates dance, comedy and singing into a variety of stunning acts that range from classic striptease to dark Gorelesque to the downright silly.
Violet Femme
As a graduate of Screaming Chickens first ever Session of Becoming Burlesque in 2006, Violet Femme had by the third session of the class, become an instructor. Violet Femmes burlesque adventure has taken her across Western Canada and most recently to Las Vegas Nevada where she competed with Screaming Chicken for best troupe in the Burlesque Hall of Fame Weekend in 2011 and with Razzle Tassel in 2011. Violet has studied theatre at Douglas College and has performed with Spectral Theatre and was proud to be a part of Screaming Chicken and the Wetspots wildly successful production of SHINE: A Burlesque Musical. She made her directorial debut with Screaming Chicken in the Christmas Spectacular, Oh Cum All Ye Playful and also directed the critically acclaimed “Greece does Grease.”
